Bitterne Walk-In Centre

You may be aware that a consultation is currently being carried out by Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG the NHS body that funds most of the services in the city) regarding a proposal to close the Bitterne walk-in centre.

What you may not know is that The Tory Government has slashed Southampton’s CCGs budget, just like it slashed the budget to our city council. Whilst cutting ours in Southampton, they’ve increased the budgets of other Hampshire CCG’s. We feel this is unfair considering the health needs of our city.

However, Southampton Labour Party will oppose the closure unless and until an out of hours service is provided. This new service should be available to all patients registered at a Southampton GP.

We are worried about out of hours health provisions for those who find it difficult to get to other parts of the city and concerned that if the walk-in service closes before an out of hours service is established, then this will put even more pressure on A&E at Southampton General Hospital.
